Architectural Draftsman

Job Summary: Design, draft, document and monitor new construction projects. Collaborate with internal customers, interior designer, project manager, master carpenters, and contractors to successfully complete facilities related projects at all Sight & Sound properties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Obtain and assemble data from our internal customers and new construction team to complete architectural designs for Facilities C&D projects.
  • Draw rough and detailed scale plans for buildings, internal spaces, and grounds using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment, software and other drafting aids.
  • Prepare colored 3D drawings, scale models, and support documents of landscape and interior designs for presentations.
  • Prepare cost estimates, bidding documents, and technical reports for specific projects with the Project Manager and Facilities C&D Director.
  • Work with the Project Manager to inspect the work done on construction projects, ensuring builder compliance with design specifications.
  • Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.
  • Coordinate structural, electrical, and mechanical designs in order to graphically represent building plans for new construction projects and maintain (BIM) building informational modeling of our current facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Drafting, Design, or related field; or two years of CAD experience (VectorWorks and SketchUp Pro preferred).
  • Strong understanding of drafting practices and drawing standards.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction practices.
  • Able to lead, follow and communicate the culture of Sight & Sound. Maintain a positive and professional attitude throughout all work efforts.
  • Understand the importance of meeting construction project deadlines and budgets. Ability to maintain composure, effectively communicate, and perform the job functions in problem/pressure situations.
  • Good organizational, communication, and planning skills, with attention to detail.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
